The sculpture depicts a traditional Battlefield Cross, symbolizing a soldier killed in battle. This dedication is made up of a rifle with an attached bayonet standing upright with the bayonet facing toward the ground. The soldier’s helmet rests on the but of the rifle, while boots are at the bottom and are placed atop a suitcase. The sculpture overall is highly detailed. It has an antique brown patina and is affixed atop a rough-hewn quartzite boulder with a flat top. At the back of the sculpture, another rock slab is placed upright and appears to be attached to a portion of the gun, likely for additional stability. The secondary quartzite rough-hewn slab behind the sculpture is epoxied to the bottom of the boulder and two parts of the sculpture are epoxied into the vertical slab. To the front, proper left of the sculpture is an engraved dedication plaque of quartzite with black paint in the recessed areas. It has been mounted to a painted ferrous metal podium that is bolted with stainless steel hardware to a concrete footing that is embedded in the ground.
