Artwork: Whaling Ship Anchor
City condition notes

The piece consists of a 19th century whaling ship anchor and a segment of an associated chain. Both elements are comprised of mild steel, likely wrought iron. Both have been painted multiple times with an unknown paint system that is blue-gray in color with a gloss sheen. Overpaint observed on nearby stones suggests that the piece was painted in situ. The curved base of the anchor is resting somewhat on two Sioux quartzite pieces, while the rounded end of the cross element is resting in the dirt. The chain consists of eight links that have been painted into one solid form. This element also sits directly on the grass and is not secured in any way. The ring at the top of the anchor that presumably where a chain would be attached has been broken at an unknown date. There does not appear to be any descriptive or commemorative plaque for this piece.
