2004 Sculpture Walk People's Choice Award winner. The sculpture depicts a goose in flight above stylized plantings, all fabricated of weathering steel. The bird’s wings are outspread spread while the feet rest on the central planting to which the bird is welded. The lighter coloration on the goose’s face appears to have been attained through a high polish finish. There is also a stainless steel tracking/ID cuff on the bird’s foot. The three plantings are welded to a roughly ½” thick, abstractly shaped slab of weathering steel that appears to represent water. A raised title and signature are located at the back of the abstract weathering steel plate. The sculpture has been welded to a ¼”, painted mild steel plate in four areas (2 on each side) with welds measuring 3-4” long. The painted plate is somehow anchored to a rough-hewn quartzite base, though the connection is unknown. There is a plaque at the east side of the sculpture mounted on a thin, rectangular slab of quartzite that is embedded in the ground. The plaque consists of a painted mild steel mount with stainless steel hardware and a polished quartzite plaque insert with black paint in the engraved areas.
