The sculpture depicts a life size male farmer seated in a chair in a contemplative position. He is dressed in overalls and a long-sleeve shirt rolled to the elbows and work boots. He is seen leaning forward, his proper right elbow placed on his proper right thigh so that his hand rests underneath his chin. The proper left hand is also bent at the elbow but extends toward his back while the forearm extends to the proper left thigh. The surface generally has a golden brown patina but appears more yellow/gold on flesh areas. The sculpture sits on a rough-hewn quartzite pedestal with visible iron oxide inclusions. It appears as though there may have been a different sculpture on this block initially, noted by two covered bolts at the northwest and southeast corners. It is unknown how the bronze sculpture is mounted though it is estimated that the nodules may have been epoxied to the stone. On the proper right side of the stone, there is a stainless steel plaque holder, secured with stainless steel hardware. Two polished, engraved quartzite plaques with black paint in recessed areas are secured within the plaque holder.
