City condition notes

The sculpture depicts a figurative grouping of a soldier being led to heaven by an angelic female figure. The figures are attached to an American flag that sits above the clouds. The bronze is patinated in browns, reds, blue and yellow tones for the flesh areas. Evidence of a clear lacquer coating was noted and Parks staff stated that they power wash and wax the sculptures once a year with Johnson’s® paste wax. The piece is adhered to a cast stone base/footing with threaded stainless steel rods and likely epoxy. Five circular bronze plaques/medallions are affixed to the northwest/north/northeast side of pedestal. They represent the five departments of the military. Their recessed areas are painted black and raised details are high polished bronze. A clear coating was also noted. The plaques very well might’ve been affixed with epoxy and affixed nubs that insert into the pedestal.
