"We love spending time in downtown Sioux Falls and have chatted about participating in the storm drain painting project for a few years. Inspiration struck this spring on one of our afternoon walks when we saw a large goldfish swimming in the Big Sioux River, right below the Arc of Dreams. The image of the bright fish in the murky water, the juxtaposition of something alive and natural, yet manmade and out of place in a South Dakota river, stuck with me. The artwork celebrates the beauty and balance that can be found in constructed and natural environments. Showcasing the perseverance of nature, we hope to inspire people to take pride in their city, see the beauty of nature, and help keep the places we all share clean."
