Change over 10 years

551 Stations have a charted Count at both ends of the span (within a year either side). 344 rose and 154 fell by 300 or more; 53 moved less than that, which is rounding, not change.

Change over 20 years

476 Stations have a charted Count at both ends of the span (within a year either side). 284 rose and 151 fell by 300 or more; 41 moved less than that, which is rounding, not change.

Method

Counted: the 627 counter Stations in the city's Traffic Count Segment layer and their 15,908 published station-year Counts, 1991–2025. A Station is ranked by its newest Count that is not zero; the 161 zeros in the record are Not charted, because the city has not said whether a zero is no traffic or no count, and the 2 Stations with no charted Count at all appear in no table. 467 Stations were counted in each of the last ten years; the rest are read every few years, so a "ten-year" change takes the Count nearest each end, within a year, the earlier year when two are equally near.

15,043 of the 15,908 Counts are multiples of 100, and the city states no unit, so a Count is never captioned as vehicles per day and a difference under 300 is treated as rounding. That margin is a choice, deliberately wide: rounding alone can put two rounded figures at most 100 apart. Rises and falls are ranked by the difference in the city's numbers, not by percentage, which would put the smallest counters first. The 276 Stations the state counts inside the city's layer are included; SDDOT's own statewide program is a separate dataset not read here.

A Station that fell is a Station that fell; whether traffic moved to a parallel street or a new interchange is not in this record and is not asserted.
